MARLON is a Sri Lankan-born artist based in Melbourne, Australia, and the founder of NeoSync.
His style is a rare fusion of neo-expressionism and realism, developed and defined by him as Neo-Synchronism. Working in mixed media, building up layers of acrylic and oils on canvas, and in their digital echoes, he builds emotive characters through expressive brushwork and intense colour.
The aim is an emotional experience rather than a likeness: art that is colourful yet dark, attractive yet unsettled. Recurring in the work is the space behind a smile, the reality of what a face keeps hidden.
Beneath the surface runs Marlon's faith. He believes each of us is created beautifully, in the image of God, yet broken and sinful within — that we struggle, we suffer, and we long to be saved through Christ, which is the Christian Gospel message. His characters carry that truth of the human condition: beauty and brokenness together, wounded but waiting to be repaired, healed, and made whole.
